172: Evans

General

While Peter Evans will almost certainly not teach this course again, the following materials provided by Marcel Paret may be useful depending on overlaps in course syllabi.

Some activities are also generally applicable. For example, the Development Intuitions Worksheet could be a useful first-section activity for this course as taught by any instructor.  Similarly, many of the articles for potential use in section could be broadly applicable.

Marcel's Worksheets and Activities:

Below are worksheets that I used in section. In most cases I would split students into small groups and have them work on them together. Whether or not we finished, they served as a good outline of the readings, and springboard for discussion in the following section.

Potential Articles to Use in Section:

Provided by Marcel: I used the Rosenberg article below on "Reverse Foreign Aid" in section and it was great. I did not use the Strong article, but it could be useful. The "against Esteva" piece includes excerpts from a piece written by Peter, and is a useful counterpoint to the "anti-development" perspective.
