Page history last edited by Rachel Wetts 9 years, 5 months ago

Note that there has historically been overlap in how (some) professors teach Soc 5.  So if you can’t find what you’re looking for here, check out our “Lesson Plans by Topic” for more Soc 5 materials!

  • Conceptualization & Operationalization Exercise: Conceptualization/operationalization exercise you can use to get students to think about how they’d define and measure race.
  • Content Analysis Activity: Fun and useful activity practicing content analysis using picture books, inspired by John Levi Martin’s “What do Animals do All Day?”
  • Sproul Ethnography Activity: Exercise where students can practice taking ethnographic field notes about what people constitute the traffic of Sproul Plaza.
  • Problematic Interview Guide/Interviewing Activity: Fun and useful activity asking students to interview one another and discuss problems with the interview guide.
